Before TV, before newspapers, even before we moved into houses...
the fire ring was the gathering place to tell stories and share
personal experiences.
Hike for Discovery is now part of Team in Training
The program remains the same, we just have a new logo and new colors.
Maryland Chapter - Hike For Discovery
Hiking to Save Lives
Hike For Discovery was an adventure fundraising program for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
In exchange for raising money to promote research to find a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma,
Hodgkin’s disease, and Myeloma, the society provided training and resources all leading up to an
adventure weekend in one of America's beautiful national parks.
The Maryland Chapter had the honor of participating in the 2007 and 2008 seasons. In 2007 they
traveled to the Grand Canyon and in 2008 the destination was
Yosemite National Park. Both Years
the team raised a lot of money to fund research and met a lot of interesting and special people
along the way.
In 2009 the Hike For Discovery program was merged into the highly successful and well known Team
Training program of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Hike is now one of that programs sports
but besides the name change, new colors, and bigger family of alumni nothing has changed.
The beloved boot logo is no longer in use but it will forever be in the hearts of Hike For Discovery participants.
